Wiring Consumer Cakes and Canister Shells to Fire Electronically

Posted by

Here’s how I wire consumer cakes and canister shells using MJG Firewire Initiators/Igniters (e.g. consumer e-Matches). I use the “poking” method for cakes and direct lift charge placement for shells. I explain wiring both types of fireworks.

There are different methods for firing consumer fireworks using electronic firing systems and different types of igniters. For electronic firing systems, and using consumer fireworks, this is the safest and most reliable method I have found. The benefit is instant ignition of the firework without any delay. No need for complex pre-fire calculations using clip-on or Visco igniters. You will still need to take lift-time into account, however.

Please note that this is filmed indoors with inactive igniters that were already fired previously. This should be done in a safe location outdoors when using live igniters.
