“Lightbringer” is a 250 cue pyromusical fireworks show I designed and performed for the first annual “Ohio Gathering of Pyros” scripted fireworks show competition in Columbia Station, Ohio. We won second place out of 4 competitors in the scripted show category. 1st place went to Jon Brown from Ohio.
The goal of “Lightbringer” was to take the audience through an emotional journey of light and sound with highs and lows, all within 4 minutes and a 250 cue limit. I chose two songs. First was “This is Our World Now” by Sam Tinnesz and OTTO BLUE. I chose this song for it’s fantastic dynamics but also it’s emotional message resonates with everything I stand for in this passion – make way, it’s our world now, a brand new wave of pyros coming in to change the game and we cannot be stopped. It’s a moving track that I felt represents my journey in this passion quite well.
After that, I chose “Lightbringer – The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story” by 2WEI and Ali Christenhousz. This song is a POWERFUL track that sends soul-reaching shivers down your spine, especially when paired with light explosions, bright glitter, and pairings of some great shell combinations in the sky. I particularly liked the 62mm blue peony shells paired with 2″ brocades to replicate a 1.3 blue with brocade pistil shell. I think that turned out well and will continue to perfect that in 1.4 shows! I chose the song for it’s emotional impact, great dynamics, and of course… I aimed to not just “bring the light”, but to BRING IT.
A HUGE shout out to MuuxBRD for providing slats and breakout boards which worked flawlessly to cram ~340 fireworks into 250 cues and Great Lakes Mortar Racks who provided Metal Mania XL racks used to achieve those AMAZEBALLS fanning shell angles at the end of each song! Also a huge thanks to Phoenix Pyrotechnics for hosting this amazing event and also loaning equipment and help. Last, but certainly not least, thanks to Brian Dunaway and Ohio Pyros for a great job organizing this event!
